Gemini Award nominated actress and Toronto native Ellen Dubin has joined a select group of influential female voice performers and creators in a genre dominated by males – video games. She plays major characters in two of the most important fantasy world role playing games of the year.
Ellen recently returned to a recording studio in her second home, Los Angeles, to lay down more voices for the eagerly anticipated, multi-player ArenaNet video game GUILD WARS 2, due for release in 2012.
“It’s been an amazing four year process,” says Ellen. “I relished every moment voicing three beautifully written, gruff, powerhouse female roles, and working with director Brenda Phillips and game creator/writer, Ree Soesbee.”
Ellen can also be heard, along with Academy Award Winner Christopher Plummer and Academy Award Nominees Joan Allen and Max Von Sydow, in the epic open world role playing game ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM. She plays the multi-layered character of Common Woman, who runs the full gamut of emotion as she leads the Player throughout the intricate fantasy realm of SKYRIM.
Bethesda Softworks’ ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM was the most played game of 2011. The game has dominated this year’s awards season: Game of the Year and Best RPG – Spike TV Video Game Awards, Best Game of the Year – Game Developers Choice Awards, Game of the Year plus four other awards – 15th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards. Plus, it was nominated for 5 BAFTA Awards.
On another vocal note, Ellen also recently provided the mellifluous voice of Intellibot, in the E1 Entertainment and Teletoon animated pilot, WINSTON, directed by Merle Anne Ridley.
Adding to her richly varied stage, film and television career, Ellen Dubin has now successfully transported her versatility and uncommon emotional power into multiple voice over worlds.
